Where did you first play baseball? On a sandlot, vacant lot, in the street, open field? No one brought a rulebook, did they? You and your friends just played ball.

One day my friend Michael, who lived in the 1500 block of Highland Boulevard in San Antonio, brought his Dad's brand new Official Baseball Rulebook and showed us 6.05c. That rule sounded so good, I thought I was listening to a Gospel straight out of the Holy Bible. A free ride for scrub batters ... wow!
